Oct. 26, 2025 (Paradise Island, Bahamas) – Ashleen Kaur carded one of the two even-par rounds of the day, and the University of Miami had two of the four lowest individual scorers for the week as the Hurricanes pulled away in the final few holes for a 5-stroke victory over South Florida on Sunday at the White Sands Bahamas NCAA Women’s Golf Invitational. No one else could do better than 2-over-par 74 on the windy day.
Kaur, a junior from Houston, Tex., was the individual runner-up with a 6-over-par total of 222 (76-74-72), while Rebekah Gardner, a junior from Northern Ireland, finished two strokes behind at +8. Miami rounded out its scoring on the final afternoon by also counting Barbora Bujakova of Czechia and Stella Jelinek of Germany, who had 74 (+2) and 76 (+4), respectively. Miami finished with a team total of +35 over the 54 holes in constant windy conditions that reached 24 miles per hour at the Ocean Club Golf Course
“It is nice to end the season with a team win,” said Kaur, who had two birdies and two bogeys in her final round. “It felt good to play well today. I knew I had to face the wind, but today I was more patient and played without expectations.”
“We fell behind in the middle of the round today, but we made a move over the last seven or eight holes,” said Janice Olivencia, Miami’s head coach, who is in her fourth season. “We needed Ashleen to play well today, and she did. This is a great way to finish the fall season.”
South Florida finished with a team total of +40 but took solace in having the individual champion in Cherry Marley, a sophomore from England, who is somewhat accustomed to playing in windy conditions back home.
“This was a really special win. I had so much fun out here this week,” said Marley, who shot 74-75-72 to edge Kaur and Isabella Johnson of High Point by a stroke. “I think it helped me to have experience playing in conditions like this. It was tough.”
South Florida was followed in the standings by High Point, the first-round leader, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Prairie View A&M. Kaur and Marley each had 72s on Sunday, half of the rounds at par for the week. No one posted an under-par round for the three days over the 6,342-yard, par 72 course, designed by past major champion Tom Weiskopf.
The average score for the week was 80, and the only eagle came from Eva Lye of High Point, who holed out from 67 yards on the par-5 13th hole in round two. This was the sixth year of the tournament. Miami joins past winners Texas, Campbell, Lipscomb, Kansas State and Kansas.
